august 2022: time management!

By Danielle Blanton, Director of Operations, Core Coffee

While this seems like the most cliché and obvious way to optimize your business life and personal life, there’s several more facets to it than one might think.

As someone who owns multiple businesses and has other projects always going around those, planning my days and weeks out to the hour keeps me not only organized and prepared to keep everything afloat, it also forces me to MAKE the time for myself, family, & a social life.

I keep two calendars at all times, one for personal appointments, family appointments, business meetings, and anything I have to physically attend to. The other is for business forecasting and personal balancing. What do I need or want to work on this week? What’s absolutely due from me? Have I done anything for me this week? Am I rested or running on empty? Has our family spent enough time together? What are we eating this week? Sitting down on Sunday night before the week begins has become a ritual I look forward to, & gives me time to look out over the next week and get my plan together.

“Sometimes, I have to schedule an entire day to resting and visiting with friends. Some weeks, it’s all work and no play.”

Creating a plan for myself for the week to come keeps tasks fresh in my mind, deadlines clear for completion, and balance for all the moving parts at home and personally.

Obviously, as the week starts, some of these “plans” go sideways, but having a clear outlook on how the week is rolling gives me the space to bob and weave when that happens rather than panic sorting it somewhere else and throwing everything else off, creating a frantic atmosphere that lasts all week and leads to unnecessary stress. Also prioritizing time to recharge my battery with things not business-related keeps my mind focused and avoids the dreaded burnout associated with doing too many things.

“Create your own ritual!”

Find a little time to sit quietly and work out your next week. If you’re a digital person, download a new app to put it all in. If you’re like me, my brain thrives off putting it down on paper and crossing it off as I complete it. Whichever way works best for you, make it fun and personal until it becomes a new habit you look forward to.

JuLY 2022: the importance of an online presence

By Kristen Willey, BD Coordinator at Go Forth Marketing

With technology being more prominent now than ever, incorporating a strong online presence into your brand is crucial. A strong online presence gives your business the ability to make an impression on their consumers before they even step through the door. This gives the brand the ability to show off their accomplishments, values, mission, goals, employees, reviews and much more. Not only does it allow your business to highlight its brand and connect with consumers, it gives the consumer a detailed idea of exactly what they should expect when dealing with your business.

Most consumers have the ability to find what they need through a simple search online. According to Forbes Council member, Goran Paun, there were approximately 3.8 million Google searches every minute in 2019. Paun also states in his article, that many of these searches were conducted to give information on local businesses. This gives businesses the ability to both differentiate themselves from other local businesses as well as be more accessible to consumers. Ensuring that your business is prioritized in search results amongst your competitors is also important in guaranteeing consumers visit your page. According to SEO expert, Brian Dean, on Google alone 75.1% of all the clicks go to the first three results. Making certain that a business is prioritized amongst the search engine is crucial to establishing successful click through rates (CTR) within the business’s online presence.

Although many companies have a web page, they may not have the tools to ensure their website is advertised correctly and prioritized amongst different search engines. When a business is low on a list of search results, consumers tend to discredit the business before truly looking into it. Some steps to ensure your online presence is strong, are to create a website that is both user-friendly and pleasing to the eye. Staying consistent amongst the website with fonts, colors and logos can help with keeping it aesthetically pleasing. Creating set brand guidelines in a document is also a great way to guarantee consistency amongst the site. Another step in having a strong online presence is making sure the content in the website is up to date and pertains to the services or product you offer. Consumers love to feel updated and a part of your brand, therefore, frequently adding content to your website is proven to gain a genuine interest and following. Whether you’re looking to gain consumers or simply looking to maintain your client base, a strong website presence can only improve your business.

An additional way to improve your online presence is through having regularly updated social media pages. Along with frequently updating the website, this will give consumers the ability to stay updated and connected on more than one platform. Social media is a great way to reach consumers and also widen your client base. Choosing platforms that best fit your target audience will further assure that information is successfully being relayed. After creating brand guidelines which will outline your target audience, a better understanding of what platforms to take advantage of will be established.

Through following these steps, your business can grow their online presence tremendously. Creating brand guidelines, social media pages, up to date content, an attractive logo and interactive and relevant content are all great ways to improve your business. Prioritizing these steps within your business can boost your client base as well as keep your current clients coming back.

June 2022: Sharing Your Success

As I shared in my Letter from the COO, I have attended the school of hard knocks when it comes to pursuing a passion and learning how to navigate the complexities of building and growing a health and wellness business.  Each month, we will be sharing tips from our team and partners that are intended to bring you actionable information to help you grow your practice, better support your patients, and also take care of yourself in the process.  We realize and appreciate the level of dedication it requires to not only start and run a business, but to also serve your patients at the highest level.  It’s not easy and we want to use our collective knowledge and experience to assist you along the way.

Headshot of Jeff in CrossFit mode.

Looking back on my time running Chair City and 336 CrossFit, we were fortunate to experience some amazing transformations.  My favorite transformation and probably the most significant example of the effectiveness of our program was a client who came to us overweight and with severe feet issues.  When she started, she could barely walk and running was out of the question.  Despite constant issues, she persisted and did the best she could.  Slowly and steadily, she dropped weight and her fitness improved eventually allowing her to cross the 100lb weight loss threshold.  As if that weren’t enough, she reached a point where she successfully completed a 7:34 mile.  Losing 20, 30 or 40 pounds is a major accomplishment, but losing 100 while also moving from barely walking to running a sub-8 minute mile is worthy of headline news.

You may be asking yourself, “where is he going with this”?  First, her success and transformation was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced.  Second, I’m still a coach at heart and I want people to understand that consistency helps you win every time regardless of the goal.  Just keep showing up.  More importantly and more specifically for you and your practice, there is a critical lesson to be learned here.  Outside of the people in the gym and this client’s friends, neighbors and acquaintances, no one was hearing this story.  Our program and coaching combined with her hard work had allowed her to completely transform herself, but we hadn’t developed a means of sharing that success with others.  There’s a good chance I could have created that program while I instead chose to mop the floors or update our Quickbooks.  I was so deep into running our business that I failed to execute one of the most critical elements of maintaining and growing any business, which is to tell the world how we could help them too!!!

The lesson in this is to make sure you take the time to share your success stories.  You are doing fantastic work and people need to know about it.  If you’re not comfortable or feel you don’t have time, find a professional partner like Go Forth Marketing who specializes in helping providers like you tell their story.  Whatever your chosen method, it is critical people know about you and how you are helping people just like them improve their overall wellness.  In future newsletters, we’ll hear from partners Like Go Forth Marketing on the hows, whens, and wheres, but the most critical step is beginning to develop and share your stories.  Many times, our human nature leads us to believe that our situation is different and special from everyone else’s.  Your potential patients/clients are no different and sharing your success stories helps them quickly realize their problems aren’t unique and establishes your credibility as a practitioner who can solve them.

If you are super ambitious and want to get a jump start on sharing your stories we can put you in touch with the team at Go Forth Marketing for a quick introduction call.  Regardless of how you move forward, be sure your prospects know who you are and how you are helping others.

I’ll close with this.  If you look at what we’re creating here, lessons like this are saturating everything we’re doing.  From the facility itself and the services we will provide here.  Everything has been created to help you experience the joy of exuberant living.  Whether you become a provider here or you just stop by to grab a cup of coffee or anything in between.  We want you to experience wellness in a new and different way while continuing to share your service with the Triad Community.
